How to Treat a UTI?

Did you know that Numedico is a proud supporter of NepBio? One of the Health Consumer Products we advocate for is URICIL which treats UTIs.

What is a Urinary Tract Infection?

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any region of the urinary system. The kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra comprise the urinary system. Most conditions involve the lower urinary system — the bladder and the urethra.

Women are at a higher risk of acquiring a UTI than males. When an infection is restricted to the bladder, it can be uncomfortable and irritating. However, if a UTI spreads to the kidneys, it can cause significant health concerns.

What causes UTI?

When bacteria enter the urinary tract, it can cause an infection. Escherichia coli (E. coli), found in the digestive system, is one of the most common germs. It can easily spread to the urethra and then stick to the urinary system lining

What are the different kinds of UTI?

Urinary tract infections are classified into three kinds. The condition is determined by the area of the urinary system that is affected. Pyelonephritis (kidneys): This can result in a fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, and discomfort in your upper back or side. Urethritis (urethra) can result in a discharge and burning when urinating. Cystitis (bladder) is the most common: you may feel like you need to urinate a lot, or it may ache when you pee. You can also feel a lower tummy ache and murky or bloody urine.

Who are really at risk?

Women, diabetics, the elderly, persons using urinary catheters or suffering from a significant disease, and males with prostate issues are all at risk. UTI affects one in every two women and one in every twenty males at some point in their lives. One in every three women will require UTI therapy before 24.

How to treat UTI?

The majority of UTIs reside in the bladder and are not dangerous. If the infection is not treated quickly, it can spread to the kidneys and produce a more severe condition.

Cranberries or cranberry juice have been used to prevent recurrent UTIs. However, recent research has indicated that cranberries have no meaningful influence on UTI2 prevention.
Drinking fluids (mainly water), antibiotics (reduces UTI occurrence), urinary alkaliser (relieves UTI symptoms), nutritional supplements, and URICIL are all current UTI treatment strategies.

URICIL contains curcumin extracted from turmeric, a powerful antioxidant that fights illness and lowers its incidence. Curcumin is also an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory substance that aids in the relief of bladder irritation during cystitis. Potassium Citrate reduces the acidity of the urine (alkalinizes it), which helps to lessen the uncomfortable burning feeling when peeing.

URICIL is a consumer health product from NepBio, a Numedico Technologies partner .
